Our volunteers are the heart and foundation of our organization. As a volunteer, you can help in many essential ways. Volunteers can contribute their time in support of our Resale Shop or our signature and community events held throughout the year.
Resale Shop Volunteers
Candlelighters proudly celebrates its Resale Shop Volunteers. Their weekly hard work and dedication help raise over $35,000 for our programs and services through the donation of over 2,000 combined volunteer hours. New volunteers are invited to complete a shadowing shift to learn more about this weekly or monthly volunteer position.
Event Committee Volunteers
Committee volunteers work on several events year-round, totaling over $350,000, which directly benefits Candlelighters of Brevard. These events include the Have-A-Heart Gala, Ladies Night Out, Light of Hope, and other external events. These committee volunteers work tirelessly before and during events securing sponsorships, in-kind donations, event logistics, and much more.
Volunteer Testimony
I have been volunteering with Candlelighters for the past four years. When I retired, I knew I wanted to give back to my community. Candlelighters was always on my list of potential organizations because my heart has always been with the children with pediatric cancer. I lost my husband to cancer and understand how it can impact a family.
Having a child with cancer is unimaginable both emotionally and financially. By volunteering my time it helps raise the funds for family fun events and much-needed financial and emotional support. I also found the staff to be some of the most caring hardworking people I have ever associated with. My impact is small, but as we all know every little bit helps.
