Thank You Wassi’s Meat Market!!

The 2018 Sunshine State Eggfest hosted by Wassi’s Meat Market drew thousands of people together at Indian River County Fairgrounds for a weekend of fun and food. This remarkable event raised $13,400 for the children of Candlelighters – an $8,000 increase from last year’s event! The two-day festivity featured the EggChef Meet and Greet presented by the American Muscle Car Museum, as well as the main event cook-off on Saturday, April 28. We are extremely thankful for the efforts of the event organizers, Wassi’s Meat Market, and the support of Melbourne BMW – who generously donated $10,000 as the Signature Sunshine State Eggfest Sponsor.

The Wassi family has become a beloved part of our COB family. The blood, sweat, and tears they invest to make this event a success for Candlelighters is truly inspirational. Community events, like EggFest, are a large factor in our ability to continue raising awareness for our local families battling pediatric cancer and to continue expanding our services to children in Indian River County.

Childhood Cancer Awareness

September marks National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. At Candlelighters of Brevard, we take this opportunity to more deeply reflect with our community on the realities of childhood cancer. For over 27 years, Candlelighters has seen first-hand the devastation that the diagnosis of childhood cancer brings on to the entire family unit. However, we have also witnessed how the community can make a tremendous difference in the lives of these same families through education, advocacy, financial assistance and emotional support. All month long on COB’s Facebook we share information, facts, stories and much more. To all of our COB families past and present throughout Brevard County, we honor each of you. Together as a community, if we reach out for their little hands we may just be able to touch their big hearts.

Thank You Sponsors!

The Town of Indialantic Shows Neighborly Love for Candlelighters

Candlelighters of Brevard would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the personal donations and support of our organization presented by the Mayor, Council Members, and citizens of Indialantic. We are grateful and inspired by the servant leadership, civic-minded thoughtfulness and spirit of community giving demonstrated by Mayor Dave Berkman, Deputy Mayor Stu Glass, Councilman Randy Greer, Councilman Dick Dunn and additional town residents.

At the March Council Meeting, Candlelighters was awarded an $800 donation – with most of the participating council members personally donating $200 each. The citizens of Indialantic need also to be recognized for their genuine desire to help support our organization through added financial donations, shopping at our resale shop, taking agency tours and volunteering. To date, $1000 has been donated with additional donation commitments still coming in.

Moving our operations to Indialantic was one of the best investments into our organization we could have made. Now the continued investment into our families battling pediatric cancer by our home town is humbling and very much appreciated. Thanks to our nurturing neighbors our children and families can call this new Candlelighter location “HOME” base.
